The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has enjoined Nigerians to celebrate the country’s 64th anniversary.
Rabiu Kwankwaso said the fact that the country remains united is worth being celebrated.
In his Independence Day message on Tuesday, the former governor of Kano State emphasized that the country’s 64 years of independence have its failures and successes.
“Each 1st of October we unite to reflect on the noble labour of our forefathers to achieve independence for Nigeria.
“64 years of independence have come with their respective successes and failures. However, we must take pride in the fact that this country has remained united and pushed through its challenges.
“As citizens, we must remember that this country belongs to all of us and we owe our generations to come a prosperous and working Nigeria,” Kwankwaso wrote on his X handle.
Meanwhile, former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, in his Independence Day message, on Tuesday, called on leaders to take steps that would benefit the country.
“Leaders have the courage not to go with the flow. They speak up when others stay silent. They act when others hesitate. They take the risk, not because they identify it as risk but because they believe a higher purpose means the risk should be taken, Full Article” El-Rufai wrote on his X handle.
