Nigeria is set to celebrate a century of aviation history, marking 100 years since the first aircraft landed in the country in Kano in 1925.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the landmark celebration in a statement posted on his verified X page on Friday.
According to him, the anniversary event will hold on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center, Abuja, featuring special performances, exhibitions and recognition of aviation industry veterans who contributed to the sector over the past century.
Keyamo wrote:
“The first ever aircraft to land in Nigeria was in Kano in 1925. As a result, we are celebrating 100 years of aviation in Nigeria this year… We shall celebrate this milestone with a number of performances and events, including honouring veterans of the aviation industry in the last 100 years.”
He extended an open invitation to all aviation stakeholders, noting that the event is expected to bring together industry leaders, regulators, innovators and partners from across the country.
