The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday, took a swipe at the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying no “sane” politician would consider joining the platform in its current state of disarray.
Addressing Senators Seriake Dickson and Abdul Ningi during plenary, Akpabio remarked that the PDP has become so fractured that anyone joining the party would be “going straight into litigation.”
“Senator Ningi, at that time, the PDP was not torn to shreds. But there is no human being that is sane today that can even go to such a platform because you’re going straight into litigation. Who is going to sign your form?” Akpabio said.
The Senate President’s comment drew laughter from the chamber, highlighting the growing tension between the ruling APC and the opposition PDP following recent waves of defections.
