A notorious kidnapper, identified as Garba (surname unknown), who had been on the wanted list of security agencies, met his end in Borno State after a failed escape attempt following his arrest.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on his X handle on Thursday.
According to police sources, Garba was apprehended on March 26 at about 12:00 p.m. in Gombi Town, Adamawa State, by a joint patrol team comprising police operatives and professional hunters, acting on credible intelligence.
During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly confessed to possessing a locally made AK-47 rifle and a pistol, both of which were recovered.
However, while being transported to the police station, Garba attempted to escape but was shot by security personnel. He was rushed to Cottage Hospital, Gombi, where he was confirmed dead.
His death marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes in the region. Security agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to tracking down criminal elements threatening the peace of local communities
