NPFL: "Playing On The Field For The First Time" Niger Tornadoes Coach Gives Reason For Draw, Shooting Stars Appeal For Patience, Others

The head coach of Niger Tornadoes, Majin Mohammed, believes that the pressure of playing at home after a long absence affected his team’s performance in their recent NPFL match against Nasarawa United.

In NPFL matchday two, Niger Tornadoes returned to their original ground at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium for the first time since 2020 and were held to a goalless draw.

“The pressure of returning home after four years affected them; they’ve not been used to this type of crowd in a home game for a while now; maybe that’s the cause,” Majin said after the game.

Ogunbote Appeals For Patience

The head coach of Shooting Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote, has expressed optimism about the team’s improvement over time after their 1-1 draw with Plateau United.

He acknowledged the team’s difficulties but appealed for patience from supporters and fans.

Following the draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday, coach Ogunbote said, “Today’s game is just quite an unfortunate match. We had a lot of difficulties in terms of anxiety and all the rest of it.

“If you look at the team, it is more or less a relatively new team, and we are just trying to get ourselves, playing on the field for the first time, trying to impress our supporters.”

Bendel Insurance Identify Mistake For Their Defeat

Bendel Insurance attributed their defeat against Katsina United to a loss of concentration and emphasized the need to move on from the disappointment.

After their 2-1 defeat to Katsina United, Bendel took to their official X page and wrote: “Late-minute mistakes cost us.

“The boys are downcast after their spirited efforts have been dashed. Let’s stand up again and move on.
Adaa… Bendel…”

Kano Pillars Happy with Away Draw

Kano Pillars head coach, Usman Abdallah, commended his players for securing a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United, acknowledging the challenges of fatigue during their away game and looking ahead to their next match against Remo Stars.

He said, “Even though we were tired on the road as we did a journey of almost two days we were still able to pull up with a positive result ahead of our next game at home.

“The next target is Remo at home and it’s going to be a very tough match because they have been in the continent and have started preparation much earlier than us, but as always, I’m expecting positive results.”

Babaganaru Not Happy With Akwa United

Akwa United technical adviser Muhammad Babaganaru is not happy that his team dropped points at home against the Abia Warriors.

After the 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Babaganaru said his team’s failure to take their chances cost them the game.

“Generally, it was a bad outing for us, it’s a result that we didn’t expect, and I’m very disappointed,” Babaganaru told the club’s official website.

“From my assessment, my players played very well, and we dominated throughout, but we couldn’t convert the many chances we created.

“Abia Warriors got their goal very early into the game, and they defended very well, and we tried to push for the equalizer, but it wasn’t to be until the last minute of the game that we won that penalty in which Edidiong scored.

”This is the beginning of the season and we have to hit the ground running by winning games.

“We have two points from a possible six, and we don’t have to wait any longer; we need to ensure we work on our scoring abilities and also redouble our effort in subsequent games as we hope for a better season ahead. Continue Reading
