In a renewed push to institutionalise women’s economic empowerment and inclusive governance, the Ogun State Government has inaugurated the Multi-sectoral Coordination Structure (MCS) for the ‘Nigeria for Women Program, Scale-Up Project’ (NFWP-SU), with a charge to members to demonstrate diligence, accountability, and innovation in driving impactful implementation across all sectors.

Inaugurating the committee on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Dapo Okubadejo, described the initiative as “a pivotal step toward institutionalizing an inclusive, accountable, and impact-driven governance framework”.

Okubadejo who doubles as the Chairman of the Structure, emphasized that the MCS would serve as the “engine room of coordination, accountability, and strategic alignment across ministries and development partners.”

He explained that the NFWP-SU, a Federal Government and World Bank-supported initiative, seeks to improve women’s livelihoods, enhance access to finance, and strengthen social inclusion across four implementing LGAs, Ifo, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ado-Odo/Ota.

The Finance Commissioner outlined the core responsibilities of the Committee, including approving the State Annual Work Plan and Budget (SAWPB), reviewing project implementation reports, fostering inter-agency collaboration, supporting Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), and ensuring that all sectors integrate Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) into state development and budgeting frameworks.

He maintained that the MCS was not a ceremonial body but “a working structure designed to drive measurable result”, charging the members to operate with diligence, clarity, and data-backed action plans that align with the development priorities of the State.
