However, Saudi Arabia has been buying refined petroleum products from Nigeria since last year. Why have those critics not highlighted this? Because it is good news.
But today, they have gone to town to attack the Tinubu administration because Saudi Arabia has restricted Nigeria and a baker’s dozen countries from obtaining multiple entry visas. You see, if it is good news about Nigeria, they bury it. But when it is bad news, they amplify it.
However, this policy by the Saudis is not a reflection on the Nigerian economy or government. One of Saudi Arabia’s strongest allies in the Middle East is Jordan, which is a nation founded by Hashemites, the direct relatives of prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalaam. Yet, they are included in the restricted nations as are Egypt and Morocco.
The restrictions result from the abuse of visa laws by the citizens of these countries. Instead of blaming President Tinubu, maybe we, as Nigerians, should consider behaving better when we visit Saudi Arabia for whatever reasons. Our economy and government are not the problem—we are.
