The Ondo State Government has declared Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as public holidays across the state to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State.
The approval was given by the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to enable residents to fully participate in activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebrations, commemorating five decades of growth, resilience and collective progress.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the anniversary represents a historic milestone and an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the journey of the state since its creation.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged residents to make good use of the public holidays to join the celebrations, reflect on Ondo State’s achievements, and renew their commitment to building a more prosperous, peaceful and united state.
The governor, however, advised essential service providers to put necessary measures in place to ensure that critical services remain uninterrupted throughout the holiday period.
The Ondo State Golden Jubilee celebration is expected to feature cultural displays, thanksgiving services and other commemorative activities across the state.
