The Golden Jubilee programme, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, aligns with the vision of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for a forward-looking Ondo State.
A major highlight of the celebration is a public lecture themed “Ondo State: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at The Dome, Akure. The event will be chaired by renowned legal luminary Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, while Mrs Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to the President on Energy, is also expected to speak.
Activities will commence with a World Press Conference on January 29, 2026, followed by a Jumat Service on January 30 and a Thanksgiving Service on February 1.
On the anniversary day, February 3, 2026, Governor Aiyedatiwa will address the people of the state in a State Broadcast, after which a State Carnival featuring cultural displays, music and performances will take place at the Ondo State Sports Stadium.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations will climax with a Gala and Award Night at The Dome, Akure, where distinguished sons and daughters of Ondo State will be honoured for their contributions to the state’s development.
The state government has called on residents, indigenes at home and in the diaspora, as well as friends of Ondo State, to actively participate in the historic Ondo @ 50 celebrations.
