Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has flagged off the Akure–Imafon Road Project, describing it as a testament to his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and improved service delivery.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at the NNPC–Imafon Junction, Igbatoro Road, Akure, the Governor said the project fulfilled his campaign promise to residents, acknowledging their patience and self-help efforts in maintaining the road over the years.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to bridge the state’s infrastructure gap by more than half before the end of his tenure, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Transformation Agenda.
Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the State Executive Council had approved the rehabilitation and construction of 101 kilometres of new roads across the three senatorial districts, adding that good road networks remain vital to economic growth and human development.

He assured residents of Akure North of the completion of all ongoing projects, including the Ijoka dual carriageway, and urged for cooperation to ensure timely completion before the end of the dry season.
Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, said the Akure–Imafon Road covers six kilometres with several structural components, while an additional 5.3-kilometre stretch from Investment Structure to ShortRite Roundabout has also been awarded.
The Olumafon of Imafon, Oba Aliu Adegbehingbe, described the project as “a symbol of hope and development”, expressing gratitude to the Governor for fulfilling his promise to the community.

Present at the event were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, SSG Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
