The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to infrastructure renewal, with the approval of the construction and rehabilitation of 101.036 kilometres of roads across the state.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa disclosed this after the recent meeting of the State Executive Council (EXCO), noting that the move reflects his administration’s drive to promote connectivity, trade, and urban renewal.
According to the approvals, key road projects include the Omotosho–Igbotako–Iju-Odo Road (21.2km) in Okitipupa, College Road–Okoga Junction–Irewole Roundabout (8.5km) in Igbokoda, and Akure–Ijare Road with spur to Ikota Township (8.8km).
Others are the Danjuma–Bolajoko–Isikan axis and Akure–Imafon Road, including an overlay to Shoprite–Federal Secretariat–Alagbaka (15.72km); Afunbiowo Estate and Alpha 3D Estate Roads (6.2km); as well as the review and continuation of Ijoka Road Dualisation and the Onyeagbulem–Shagari/Irese Flyover in Akure.
Beyond road projects, the EXCO also approved the construction of a 216-bed hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, and a two-storey headquarters for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes & Anti-Corruption Commission.
Additionally, major ministry buildings—including TESCOM, Hospital Management Board, Energy & Mineral Resources, Water Resources, Women Affairs, and Lands & Housing—are to undergo renovation and upgrade.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the projects would “ease transportation, enhance trade, and strengthen public service delivery,” emphasizing that his administration remains committed to investing in projects that connect communities, empower citizens, and sustain progress.
