Troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during an offensive operation in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 2:10 p.m. on March 23 to clear terrorist enclaves around Tangaza.

The troops, in an ambush position at Magonho Forest opposite Kadida junction, made contact with the terrorists, neutralising one of them and recovering two AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle and rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

However, a few hours after the ambush, the terrorists regrouped and attacked Kadida Village, accusing residents of collaborating with troops.

Despite the swift response, one civilian was killed during the attack, while two others sustained injuries. Troops administered first aid to the injured and evacuated them for medical attention.

Troops said operations are ongoing to sustain pressure on the terrorists and prevent further attacks in the area.
