Residents of Ogbagi-Akoko, Ondo State, are outraged after a suspected th+ef allegedly stole the mobile phone of the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Victor Adetona Ojo, and beat him up when confronted on March 26, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Tope Adelani, was reportedly familiar with the palace. He allegedly took the monarch’s phone unnoticed but returned shortly after, and when Oba Ojo confronted him over the th+ft, he reportedly turned violent, b£ating up the royal father.
Members of the monarch’s family who tried to intervene were also reportedly assaulted. The assailant was eventually subdued and taken into police custody.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover his motives and any factors that contributed to the attack.
