Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino stated today that Panama is not allowing its territory to be used for any hostile military activity against Venezuela, responding to growing controversy over U.S. military training operations in the country.

Mulino stressed that the joint exercises with U.S. forces fall strictly under existing bilateral cooperation agreements and are not connected to the escalating standoff between Washington and Caracas.

“With respect to Venezuela, we have nothing to do with that. Panama is not lending its territory for any hostile act against Venezuela or any country in the world,” Mulino said.
