Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has stirred controversy with a statement equating membership of Nigeria’s two major political parties—the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC)—to belonging to a terrorist organisation.
In a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle yesterday, Sowore claimed that, from the standpoint of a Canadian Federal Court in Ottawa, Ontario, both parties fit the description.
“If you have ever been a member of the People’s Democratic Party (@OfficialPDPNig) or the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg), then you have been a member of a terrorist organisation. Maybe the only difference is the cell where you’re operating from,” Sowore wrote.
