Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, has emerged as the new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement came late Saturday night during the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The convention drew delegates from across 17 states, all arriving to pick new national officers as the party prepares for a crucial political cycle.

Turaki secured the top seat after a tense voting process that ran into the night.

His victory did not come as a surprise to many within the party, as several northern PDP leaders had earlier rallied behind him, signalling strong internal support.

He is known within the party for his long-standing contributions, especially in legal and intergovernmental affairs.

The former minister had earlier completed all formalities for the race, including the submission of his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the convention.

However, his emergence was not without resistance.

Some chapters, including the Kebbi State faction, had raised objections over internal disagreements surrounding his candidacy.

Despite this, the majority of delegates pushed ahead, handing him the mandate to lead the party.

Turaki now steps into a challenging period as the PDP looks to strengthen its internal structure and rebuild nationwide confidence ahead of the next general elections.click on Read Original,if you are reading from phoenix to read full article
