Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has distanced himself from the decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several other PDP leaders, describing the move as neither discussed nor endorsed by key party organs, LeadNaija News reports.
In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor clarified that the matter was never deliberated at the PDP Governors’ Forum nor presented at the National Executive Committee (NEC) before the motion was brought forward.
According to the statement, “The Executive Governor of Plateau State… has formally distanced himself from the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike; former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Samuel Anyanwu, alongside other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party.”
Governor Mutfwang further stressed that the move to expel prominent party figures at this sensitive period is not strategic and does not align with the urgent task of resolving the internal challenges facing the PDP.
He reaffirmed his belief that unity, dialogue, and collective engagement remain the only viable pathways to rebuilding and repositioning the opposition party ahead of future political contests.
The development comes amid growing backlash from senior stakeholders who have openly rejected the expulsion, warning that it could deepen the party’s internal fractures.
