Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has distanced himself from the decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting the action does not serve the party’s collective interest, LeadNaija News reports
In an official statement released via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Governor Fintiri declared that he “will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis,” stressing that the party needs unity, not more division.
Fintiri, a prominent PDP figure, reiterated his loyalty to the party but emphasized that expulsion and factional fights would only worsen internal tensions.
According to him, “Peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party. I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP.”
He urged party stakeholders to focus on healing existing rifts rather than widening them, calling for collective efforts to restore cohesion and rebuild trust.
Fintiri added that his stance is governed by the desire to protect the PDP from disintegration while supporting initiatives that promote stability, progress, and internal harmony.
His reaction follows the announcement of the expulsion of several key PDP members earlier in the day, a move that has sparked debate and intensified internal party scrutiny.
