ADC Vows to End Executive Domination: ‘We’ll Restore Judiciary and Legislature’

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to redefine Nigeria’s political culture by building a values-driven institution anchored on accountability, competence, and service to the people.

National Chairman of the party, David Mark, stated this during a meeting with members of the National Working Committee (NWC), where he unveiled the party’s “Integrity and Performance Compact” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark stressed that the ADC was determined to distinguish itself from other political parties by prioritising internal democracy, discipline, and transparency over personal ambitions.

“What makes the ADC different is simple: we will be a party of purpose and determination, not impulses — an institution that champions democratic values and a culture of accountability and responsibility across all its organs and in every government it forms,” he declared.
The chairman described the ADC as a Pan-African, people-oriented, problem-solving movement sensitive to the needs of the poor, youth, women, workers, entrepreneurs, retirees, and other vulnerable groups.
He said the party’s mission was not just about winning power in 2027 but about building a political institution that would outlive its founders.

Under the Integrity and Performance Compact, the ADC plans to implement annual independent audits, enforce procurement rules, adopt conflict-of-interest policies, ensure merit-based appointments, introduce digital membership registers, conduct verifiable primaries, and establish citizens’ service charters in all ADC-led governments.

Mark also pledged that the ADC would uphold the separation of powers and restore legislative and judicial independence.
“As a former Senate President, I am alarmed by attempts — subtle and crude — to bend the legislature and judiciary to the will of the executive. The ADC will defend the separation of powers, restore legislative and judicial independence, and strengthen oversight so that budgets serve the public interest, not private appetites,” he said.
On governance, he promised that an ADC government would focus on food security, job creation, stable electricity, economic growth, and prudent public finance management.

He added: “We will pursue price stability and productivity through credible, rules-based coordination of fiscal and monetary policy. We will support farmers, small businesses, and industries with affordable, performance-linked credit and ensure every naira spent is accounted for.”

On foreign policy, Mark said the ADC would pursue a Pan-African agenda rooted in regional integration, trade expansion, and global peace.

He reminded members of the NWC of their urgent duty to rebuild the party’s internal structures and ensure credible candidates emerged in all elections. If You’re Reading From Phoenix Click On Read Original  at the top To Read Full Article

“We do not seek power for its own sake; we seek it to build a legacy worthy of our children. Let it be said of the ADC that we kept faith with the people, that we were steady under pressure, honest in our dealings, and relentless in delivery,” he concluded.
