Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and ex-governor of Anambra State, has issued a stern warning against corruption in Nigeria’s fuel sector.

Speaking with Trust TV, he described the country’s fuel subsidy system as “organized crime” and criticized discrepancies in reported fuel consumption, questioning where the missing resources are going.

“The amount of fuel they say we consume cannot be consumed by this country,” he said.

Obi compared Nigeria with Pakistan, noting that both countries have similar population sizes and possibly a comparable number of vehicles, yet Nigeria’s reported fuel consumption is far higher.
