The Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Arts Theatre, has been officially reopened and rededicated in Iganmu, Lagos, after undergoing major renovation.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Wednesday, was attended by prominent dignitaries including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido.
The refurbished cultural landmark now boasts a 4,000-capacity theatre, positioned to serve as a hub for creativity, performance, and cultural expression in Nigeria.
In other photographs from the event, Prof. Wole Soyinka is seen alongside Governor Sanwo-Olu, President Tinubu, CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso, and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the rededication of the historic edifice.
The National Arts Theatre, originally constructed in the 1970s, has been transformed and renamed in honour of Prof. Wole Soyinka, Africa’s first Nobel Laureate in Literature, in recognition of his contributions to literature, culture, and the arts.If You’re Reading From Phoenix Click On Read Original at the top To Read Full Article
