The Anambra State Police Command attributes the fire incident in Ekwusigo LGA to a fatal vehicle accident involving a truck and other vehicles, and not an attack by any armed group, contrary to false information circulating on social media.

A press statement issued by the command’s police public relations officer SP Ikenga Tochukwu states that the unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of November 21, 2025 when a tanker loaded with PMS (fuel) collided with a car.

The collision resulted in the tanker bursting into flames with some nearby shops touched by the inferno.
