Police reservist Wiandre Pretorius has died after reportedly shooting himself at a petrol station in Brakpan on the East Rand.
His death comes days after he claimed there was an attempt on his life outside his Boksburg home, where his vehicle was shot at.
Pretorius was implicated in the 2022 killing of a Brakpan suspect and was named at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
IPID has finalised its investigation into the 2022 case and referred the docket to the National Prosecuting Authority.
