Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has stated that it will take a minimum of four years before the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, can be readmitted to the party, unless the National Executive Committee intervenes.

Naija News reports that George made the disclosure in an interview with Daily Independent published on Sunday, insisting that Wike’s expulsion, along with those of former Ekiti State Governo,r Ayodele Fayose and several others, was a valid decision of the PDP national convention held on Saturday in Ibadan.

Recall that the motion for their expulsion was moved by George and seconded by the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.

The PDP chieftain argued that since their removal was ratified at the party’s highest decision-making body, only another national convention, held every four years, can formally overturn it.

George stated, “Wike must be dreaming if he thinks he can nullify the convention we had in Ibadan. This party was founded on justice, fairness and equity. He crossed the rubicon, and we have tolerated him enough.”

He condemned Wike’s open declarations of support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 ambition while still retaining membership of the PDP.

“Perpetually, he keeps saying he will work for Bola Tinubu in 2027 and yet he is still a member of the PDP. Does that make any sense? We don’t want a person with a lukewarm attitude in our party,” George said.

Despite the hard stance, George admitted that Wike and other expelled members could be pardoned if they demonstrate genuine remorse and seek reconciliation.

He noted, “If they retrace their steps, apologise and beg to be accepted into the fold, why not?”

However, he stressed that the expulsion decision being convention-approved means readmission is not automatic.

“Because that decision was taken at the highest body of the party, it will take another four years to reconsider whether they will likely be accepted. But if we see genuineness in their behaviour, the NEC can reconsider them,” he added.
