A group of women on Thursday staged a peaceful protest at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, calling for the immediate reinstatement of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and an end to the state of emergency currently in effect.
The demonstrators, mostly dressed in black, carried placards and sang solidarity songs as they marched through major streets before converging at the Government House.

Recall that Governor Fubara was suspended in March following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state, a decision that has since drawn criticism from various stakeholders.
According to The Nation, Videos circulating on social media showed the protesting women expressing dissatisfaction over the current political situation in the state and calling on the federal government to respect democratic processes.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the presidency or the Rivers State government regarding the protest. – LeadNaija News Desk.
