With the Premier League returning this weekend, focused has shifted to on pitch matters.

This weekend, West Ham United will face Sunderland, for the hosts first Premier League game in eight years.

Nevertheless, there will still be people at the club working hard behind the scenes to get players through the door.

Graham Potter’s side have already signed El Hadji Malick Diouf, Callum Wilson, Mads Hermansen, and Kyle Walker-Peters.

But they will be hoping for more, and they may get that.

According to TBR Football, the Hammers are eyeing up a move for Aleix Garcia of Bayer Leverkusen.

The Spanish midfielder was once on the books at Manchester City, and featured briefly in the 16/17 season.

His best season came in the 23/24 campaign, where he was a huge part of the Girona side who finished third in La Liga.

After that season, he moved to then defending champions Leverkusen.

Things haven’t gone quite so well in Germany – starting just 17 of 34 league games last season.

Individually he still played fairly well nevertheless, creating 10 big chances in that time.

That sort of creativity is what West Hm are desperately missing from their midfielders.

However, with Granit Xhaka having departed Leverkusen, there could be more game time on offer for Garcia.

This would be one hell of a signing for West Ham if they can get something done.
