As Muslims across the country begins this year’s Ramadan, a United Nations-trained Negotiator and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Edwin Uhara has urged Muslims to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday, the party stalwart noted that prayer is an indispensable component of nation-building which must be deployed into solving some of the challenges confronting us as a nation.
Though the nation is designed to function as a secular state but the constitution still recognizes the importance of religious freedom as enshrined in section 38 of the 1999 Constitution as Amended.
Accordingly, with the Christian Lent also starting on the same day with this year’s Ramadan, there is no doubt that the heaven has confirmed that God is ever ready to listen to our prayers and empower us to overcome our challenges no matter the situation.
Adding that there is no coincidence in life as everything is according to the perfect will of God Almighty.
Uhara further noted that it was the same Archangel Gabriel known in Islam as Jibril who brought the good news about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ to Mother Mary that also gave Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon His Name) the vision to introduce Islamic Religion by asking him to recite the first verse of the Holy Quran (Surah Al-Alaq 96:1-5) in 610 AD.
Hence, the time has come for us to ask for divine intervention especially now that we are about entering the electioneering campaign season for next year’s general elections.
The party honcho also commended the leadership of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the Christian Association of Nigeria also led by His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel C. Okoh for their relentless efforts in promoting inter-religious peace and harmony across the federation.
Ramadan Kareem to all the Muslim Ummah!
Signed:
His Youthfulness,
Comrade Edwin Uhara,
UN-trained Negotiator and former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council
