Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has launched a fresh attack on former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of repeatedly making false allegations against past and present public officials.
Writing via his verified X (formerly Twitter) page, Omokri claimed that since 1999, El-Rufai has allegedly made misleading statements about multiple Nigerian leaders and their aides.
Omokri referenced a January 3, 2014 allegation in which El-Rufai accused then-President Goodluck Jonathan of operating a “killer squad” allegedly targeting prominent opposition figures, including Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, and Bisi Akande.
He also cited claims made in El-Rufai’s
memoir, The Accidental Public Servant, which he said drew criticism from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who publicly described El-Rufai as an “incurable liar.”
Omokri further referenced a 2014 statement in which El-Rufai allegedly claimed that Christians, under the Christian Association of Nigeria, were behind Boko Haram — a claim that generated widespread backlash at the time.
He additionally mentioned a 2022 allegation involving Peter Obi, and concluded by asserting that the current target of El-Rufai’s alleged claims is Nuhu Ribadu.
As of the time of this report, El-Rufai has not publicly responded to Omokri’s latest remarks.
The exchange adds to escalating political tensions as public figures trade accusations in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
