He emphasised that no one should be permitted to keep the party hostage or cause instability for their own selfish reasons.
George reportedly questioned Wike’s behaviour, pointing out that Wike had previously taken pride in helping Fubara become governor, according to the Daily Post. He was disappointed that Wike, who is currently headquartered in Abuja, was still meddling in Rivers State politics.
George urged Wike to approach political participation with more deference, pointing out that previous governors had not behaved in a similar manner.
George cautioned that such tensions could lead to the PDP’s fragmentation. He cited Wike’s recent public threats against colleague governors and chastised the PDP leadership for not taking urgent steps to confront his disruptive behaviour.
While conceding that the APC government had not taken action against Wike, George maintained that the PDP must step up to maintain discipline and unity within its ranks.
In a direct plea to Wike, George acknowledged the former governor’s dissatisfaction with the PDP’s presidential primary but encouraged him to put aside personal issues.
He reminded Wike that no individual, no matter their position or influence, is greater than the party. George emphasised the need of PDP members working together to maintain the party’s long-term viability and prosperity.
George finished by urging all PDP members to choose the party’s communal interests over personal ambitions. He advocated for reconciliation, urging Wike and others to focus on the bigger picture of growing the PDP and serving the Nigerian people.
According to George, “I am appealing to him to cool off immediately. I know he was injured by friends during the last PDP Presidential contest. Take it easy. Nobody is bigger than any party. Forget what happened in the past. Let us work together for the interest of our political party.”...CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶
