Kruger National Park has launched a relief fund to rebuild infrastructure damaged by recent heavy rains and flooding in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Roads, bridges, and park facilities were severely affected, prompting temporary closures of day visits and some camp operations.
Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister Willie Aucamp visited the park and commended SANParks staff for their swift emergency response, noting that no lives were lost and all guests and staff were safely evacuated.
The relief fund will support the reconstruction of damaged facilities and ensure the park can resume normal operations.
Minister Aucamp also appealed to the public and corporate donors to contribute to the fund, emphasizing the importance of restoring one of South Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. SANParks will oversee the allocation of funds with independent auditors to guarantee transparency.
The park continues to monitor conditions and will provide updates as recovery efforts progress.
