A high-stakes police operation to capture fugitive Jabulani Moyo, wanted for the August killings of two detectives in Roodepoort, turned deadly today, Saturday.
During the pursuit, one suspect was shot and killed while another was arrested, Gauteng police confirmed.
Moyo, who is also awaiting trial for robbery, remains at large. It is not yet clear whether he was directly involved in the Cosmo City confrontation. Police have stated that more information will be released later.
The manhunt for Moyo has been ongoing since the tragic August incident, when he allegedly overpowered and shot two detectives while in custody, before fleeing the scene. Authorities are appealing to the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers and the lengths to which police are going to apprehend dangerous fugitives.
