A trader was arrested on Wednesday, 4 February, after SAPS Gauteng’s Firearm, Liquor and Second-Hand Goods (FLASH) unit shut down an illegal liquor outlet in De Deur, in the Sedibeng District.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with De Deur SAPS and the Gauteng Liquor Board, following intelligence about the use of fraudulent liquor licences in the area.

Upon inspection, the Gauteng Liquor Board confirmed that the licence presented by the outlet was fake.

The trader was subsequently arrested and charged with operating a liquor outlet without a valid licence.
