The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned members of the public to beware of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff of the Service, who is allegedly using its name to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
The DSS, in a statement on Monday, said Godwin had been dismissed from service but had continued to engage in fraudulent and unscrupulous activities while parading himself as a serving officer.
It said the suspect was reportedly using the name of the Service to extort money and deceive members of the public under various pretences.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public of the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff. He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement said.
The Service urged Nigerians to desist from any form of dealings with Godwin or persons claiming affiliation with him.
It also advised that all legitimate requests, enquiries, or complaints should be directed to the DSS through its official contact channels, including the phone line 09088373515 and its designated email address.
The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and accountability, warning that anyone caught impersonating or tarnishing its image would face the full wrath of the law.
