In the wake of the recent floods that affected several communities in Potiskum, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (WASSI) and with funding from UNICEF, has reached 150 HH Afghanistan, Makarahuta and Filin Nashe communities with hygiene kits.
This follows a comprehensive house-to-house hygiene promotion campaign led by WASSI, ensuring that affected families are equipped with the knowledge and tools to stay healthy during this challenging time.
At the distribution, the Executive Secretary SEMA Dr Goje Mohammed commended all partners for aligning with the government’s ongoing efforts to cushion the impact of the disaster.
Beyond hygiene support, the Yobe State Government has provided support in cash, distribution of non-food items, shelter kits and dignity kits to the victims
Two people were reported dead, an elderly woman as a result of a building collapse while the body of a 10-year-old girl who got drowned in flood was recovered. SEMA team in collaboration with local divers, Fire Service and the Red Cross led. . Continue..Reading. .
