Semi Ajayi has been ruled out of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in September after sustaining a hamstring injury during Hull City’s clash with Coventry City.
Ajayi injured his hamstring during Hull City’s Sky Bet Championship match against Coventry City. The centre-back will miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Scans revealed significant damage, with Ajayi expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. He was previously rested as a precaution during Hull City’s Carabao Cup defeat at Wrexham.
Ajayi has suffered hamstring injuries in the past, limiting his appearances last season with West Bromwich Albion. The Super Eagles will face Rwanda on 6 September at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and South Africa three days later in Bloemfontein.
