South Africa Police Struggle To Crack “DR NEL” Case

Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe, has appealed to members of the community to assist with the investigation into the death of “Dr Nel” Baitsi Molimisi (31).

This follows a recent directive to expedite the investigation into a culpable homicide case.

“Dr Nel” lost his life on 2 November 2025 at approximately 04h00 on Ga-Seleka Phetogo Drive in Botshabelo Village, within the Tom Burke policing area.

According to police, officers found a man lying face down on the roadway in a critical condition.

Preliminary information indicates that the deceased was last seen performing at the grand opening of a local pub earlier that morning.

He was certified dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Provincial police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, said the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident remains unknown at this stage, and the circumstances surrounding the matter are still under investigation.

Police confirmed that the case is no longer being handled by the Waterberg District Detectives. It has since been transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit (PIU) in an effort to intensify and fast-track the investigation.

Lt Gen Hadebe urged anyone with information that may assist police to contact the investigating officer, Col Richard Boshomane, on 079 894 5501, visit their nearest police station, or call the Crime Stop number anonymously on 08600 10111.
