A leading pressure group in the Southeast region known as Southeast Leaders of Thoughts has passed a vote of confidence on the leadership and management of the Southeast Development Commission for meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the zone within the shortest time-frame.
The group stated this in a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Monday by it’s Director of Public Communication, Mr. Innocent Edwin after a two-day tour of the region to ascertain the level of developments and programmes initiated and promoted by SEDC.
The group said, apart from walking the talk on moving the Southeast economy from the current $40 billion economy to over $200 billion in the next decade, the introduction of the Southeast investment initiative to drive the investment plans of the region is most enthralling; noting that despite some challenges, SEDC has been able to renew the hope of the region through its integrated development programmes.
The group who is full of praises for the leadership, management and boards of the commission said, the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in creating the commission has not taken the back seat as alleged in some quarters.
Therefore, the group advised the leadership of commission to remain focused in delivering services to Ndi-Igbo and not allow agents provocateurs and some groups wearing the Tonga of Igbo Community anywhere to distract them from doing their fantastic job.
Accordingly, it has come to our knowledge that some of these persons masking under accidental Igbo organizations are some brief case contractors and political dissidents who came for deals but were denied of such privileges because transparency and accountability is the watchword of the commission but have now embarked on media war against the commission.
We advise the people of the Southeast region and Nigerians to be wary of the antics of these shenanigans who wants to cause the flow of blood in the channel of clean waters.
Adding that any Igbo Association anywhere that wants to know about the state of development in the region should come down to Igbo land and see things for themselves and not stay some where in Abuja and be issuing press statements simply because their avaricious tendencies where napped on the altar of transparency and accountability.
Therefore, no amount of attacks or campaign of calumny against the commission will distract it from developing the southeast region.
Signed:
Mr. Innocent Edwin,
Director of Public Communication,
Southeast Leaders of Thoughts.
