Sowore Alleges APC-Led Coalition Aims to Keep Nigeria in Bondage

Publisher and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has taken to his verified X (formerly Twitter) page to strongly criticize the newly emerging political alliances in the country, describing them as a merger of “yesteryear’s criminals and yesterday’s looters.”

Sowore alleged that figures formerly criticized for corruption and misrule have now aligned themselves with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, forming what he described as a coalition designed to perpetuate Nigeria’s oppression.

“The coalition of yesteryear’s criminals and yesterday’s looters is now fully merged with the one led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They are one and the same,” he wrote.

While Sowore did not mention specific individuals, his post appears to respond to recent political realignments involving former members of past administrations joining or associating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Sowore, the upside of these alliances is the clarity they bring to the Nigerian electorate.

“I love that their objective is now clear, which is to keep Nigeria in bondage,” he stated, adding that the transparency of their intent presents an opportunity for the people.

He called on Nigerians to build a “coalition of justice, resistance, and liberation” in response to what he believes is an orchestrated attempt to stall democratic progress and social equity.

Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement and a longstanding critic of successive Nigerian governments, remains vocal about issues of governance, corruption, and civil rights.
