The Delta State Police Command has addressed the controversy surrounding the Ozoro incident, dismissing viral claims that it was a “rape festival.”

According to police spokesperson Bright Edafe, preliminary investigations and interviews conducted so far have not produced any official rape complaints. “Among the four girls interviewed yesterday, no one said they were raped.

Up to this moment, we’ve not had any official reports that anybody was raped. It was not a rape festival. It was a festival that was done by the chief priest to pray for barren women to have fruit of the womb. That was the intention,” Edafe said.

However, he confirmed that the situation has taken a serious turn due to lapses in organization and communication. Edafe explained that the event, allegedly organized by a chief priest, was carried out without informing key authorities, including the traditional ruler of Ozoro Kingdom, the student union, school management, and the police.

He stressed that the lack of proper coordination led to chaos and ultimately exposed female residents to harm. As a result, the chief priest behind the event is currently in police custody.

Despite ruling out rape claims for now, Edafe acknowledged that acts of sexual a§§ault were reported, describing the development as an “embarrassment” and condemning the incident.Get The Full, Details. .
