The Taliban has dismissed any suggestion of ceding control over Bagram Air Base, insisting it remains an integral part of Afghanistan’s territory.
Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, made the declaration on Monday, stressing that Afghans would never tolerate foreign occupation of their land.
“Bagram is part of Afghanistan’s territory. It is no different from any other piece of Afghan land. We will never agree to bargain away or hand over any part of our country,” Mujahid stated.
He added: “Afghans are extremely sensitive about occupation, and no Afghan will ever allow their land to be taken or controlled by outsiders – not even an inch.”
Bagram, once the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan, has long been a focal point in debates over sovereignty and foreign influence in the region.
