Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has confirmed that he will officially defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

He made the announcement during a visit to the Jolly Nyame Stadium, which is being renovated ahead of the defection event.

Kefas emphasized that his move is driven by a vision for Taraba’s future, not personal advantage.

As he put it, “On the 19th of November, I will officially transition from PDP to APC. This movement is about the destiny of the people of Taraba, and we are expecting many visitors for the ceremony.”

Supporting him, members of the state executive council — represented by Commissioner for Science and Technology, Muslim Aruwa — expressed unanimous backing.

Aruwa said: “The Governor is our leader. Wherever he goes, we move with him — be it APC, SDP, or ADC. This alignment with the Federal Government is for the good of all citizens, not for personal gain. It is about bringing development to the state.”

He added again: “This movement is not just for the governor, but for the entire people of Taraba State, and we are with him 100 percent.”

Kefas’ defection comes amid broader controversy. Some reports allege that governors switching to APC are being offered massive financial incentives.

According to these accounts, “This money is released in two tranches; there is a N100 billion ‘grant’ upfront once commitment is shown, and a balance of N150 billion after the formal defection ceremony.”
That would imply a total package of N250 billion per governor.

In recent weeks, several other PDP governors have also dumped the opposition for the ruling party — including those from Enugu, Bayelsa, and Delta States.click on Read Original,if you are reading from phoenix to read full article
