Teenager Arrested In Kebbi For Allegedly Pretending To Be Deaf To Spy For Kidnappers

A young boy has reportedly been apprehended in Kebbi State after he allegedly posed as a deaf person for about a year in order to secretly gather and relay information to suspected kidnappers.

The development was shared by Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari in a Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026. According to him, the boy was arrested and later confessed to working with two other individuals who were reportedly assigned to monitor residents in the Makera Gandu area of Birnin Kebbi.

Yari disclosed that the suspect claimed they were trained in sign language to aid their covert communication while carrying out surveillance.

Although he operated in Kebbi, the boy is said to be originally from Niger State.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cautious of unfamiliar faces within their communities.
