Tension: Heavy Security Presence As PDP Factional Crisis Deepens
A heavy security presence was observed on Friday at the national headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Wadata Plaza, Abuja, following the resumption of Abdulrahman Mohammed, the former Vice Chairman (North Central), who now leads a new faction of the party, as the acting national chairman.
The development comes amid rising tension within the party as Mohammed’s faction moves to assert control over the PDP leadership structure.

Notably, the embattled National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, along with other officials loyal to their faction, were absent from the party’s national secretariat.

Party sources told LeadNaija News that the presence of armed security personnel around the Wadata House was to prevent a possible confrontation between the two factions.
The ongoing power tussle is the latest twist in the internal crisis threatening to divide Nigeria’s main opposition party.
