Eating Oatmeal Might Lead to Lasting Changes in Cholesterol Levels
A new study published in Nature Communications found that participants who ate primarily oatmeal for two consecutive days saw a reduction in cholesterol that lasted at least six weeks.
The findings add to a growing body of research on how oatmeal affects cholesterol and who can benefit from incorporating it into their diet.
“We have long since understood that oats can help lower cholesterol in people, but that was largely thought to be based on its fiber content,” Rachel Lander-Canseco, RD, a clinical nutritionist at Keck Medicine of USC, told Verywell.
