President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved key appointments into the leadership of two newly established Federal Universities of Education, naming Engineer Abdurrazaq Abubakar Nakore as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.
Also appointed is Prof. Abdullahi Tukur Kodage, who has been named Vice Chancellor of the Kano institution.
Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, previously served as Executive Secretary of the Rural Electricity Board in Jigawa State.
In a related development, the President appointed Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State. Bunkure, a distinguished academic in science education, currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kano.
The Federal University of Education, Zaria, and Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, were part of four Colleges of Education upgraded to full university status between 2022 and 2023.
According to the governing laws of the institutions, the Pro-Chancellor will serve a term of four years, while Vice Chancellors are to serve for five years.
