Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official postings of 65 ambassadors to represent Nigeria in foreign missions across the world, including 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career appointees.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December, clearing the way for their deployment to various countries and international organizations.
Among the prominent non-career ambassadors are Reno Omokri, who will serve in Mexico City, Mexico, and Femi Fani-Kayode, who has been posted to Germany. Others include Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, former Abia State governor Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, and Mahmoud Yakubu to Qatar.
Former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau will head Nigeria’s mission in China, while Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has been appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Additional non-career postings include Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Isaak Adewole to Canada, Olufemi Pedro to Australia, Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia, and Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea.
The president also approved the deployment of career ambassadors to key missions worldwide. These include Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria, Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Jane Adams Michael to Jamaica, Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, Shehu Ilu Barde to Ghana, and Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia.
Others include diplomats posted to India, Morocco, Belgium, Switzerland, Malaysia, Iran, Kenya, Sudan and Thailand, among several others. The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and deepen bilateral relations with countries across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
