President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, on the occasion of his 59th birthday, describing him as a loyal partner in service and a symbol of competence and dedication.
In a statement issued from the State House on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, President Tinubu praised Shettima for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress and for exemplifying leadership as service rather than privilege.
The President recalled Shettima’s record of service as Governor of Borno State for eight years and later as a Senator representing Borno Central, noting that he had demonstrated resilience and devotion to the people despite daunting challenges.
“Since we embarked on this journey, united by the shared vision of building a more prosperous nation, your courage, sense of duty, tenacity, determination, and belief in Nigeria’s greatness have remained unshaken,” the statement read.
Tinubu further lauded the Vice President for bringing “fresh perspectives” to governance, stressing that his choice of Shettima as running mate in 2023 was based on competence and trust.
He highlighted Shettima’s contributions to the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing his role in strengthening international partnerships, advancing food security initiatives, and promoting investment reforms at home.
“Your dedication reassures me that I did not make a mistake in choosing you as my deputy,” Tinubu said, adding that their partnership would continue to deliver visible results for Nigerians in the months ahead.
The President also emphasized the personal bond he shares with Shettima, describing their relationship as a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and national service.
“On this occasion of your 59th birthday, I heartily wish you renewed vitality, wisdom and more years of impact. Happy birthday, Kashim, and many happy returns,” Tinubu concluded.
