President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a thorough investigation into the deadly terror attack on an Army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State, which claimed the lives of six soldiers, as reported by The Nation.

The attack, carried out at dawn on January 4, 2025, has reignited concerns about insurgency in the region.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, acknowledging their sacrifice as pivotal to the nation’s fight for security.

“Their sacrifice in defending our nation will forever be honoured and remembered,” Tinubu said.

He commended the military for its swift retaliatory strikes, which neutralized many of the attackers and destroyed their assets.

The President praised the military’s efforts, stating, “This resolute action by the Army demonstrates their capability to confront and defeat threats to national security.”

President Tinubu ordered an escalation of military operations, urging the Armed Forces to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist camps, especially in the Northwest, where banditry remains rampant.

He also called on Nigerians and the media to support the military’s efforts, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ending terrorism and restoring peace nationwide.
