Tinubu Reconstitutes NERC Board, Appoints New Chairman, Vice Chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), with the appointment of a new chairman, vice chairman and other commissioners.

According to details released on Thursday, Dr. Mulisiu Olalekan Oseni has been appointed as Chairman of NERC, with effect from December 1, 2025, while Dr. Yusuf Ali will serve as Vice Chairman, also effective the same date.

Other members appointed to the reconstituted board include Nathan Rogers Shatti, Dafe Akpeneye, Aisha Mahmud Kanti Bello, and Dr. Chidi Ike as Commissioners.

In addition, Dr. Fouad Animashaun has been appointed as a new Commissioner, with his appointment taking effect from December 2025.

The reconstitution of the NERC board is expected to strengthen regulatory oversight in Nigeria’s power sector, improve market stability and support the Federal Government’s ongoing electricity reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, reliability and investor confidence.+See more details

NERC is the statutory body responsible for regulating the Nigerian electricity supply industry, including licensing, tariff setting and consumer protection.
