The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has found himself at the center of controversy following a heated moment during a media interaction where he directed security personnel to remove a woman from the event.
The incident, captured on video and shared by Channels TV, began when the woman attempted to ask Umahi a question, sparking visible irritation from the minister. The footage shows Umahi addressing the woman firmly, saying:
“Madam, can you respect yourself?”
He proceeded to ask her to drop the microphone, clearly wanting to end the exchange. However, the woman continued to press forward with her question, undeterred by his initial response.
This led Umahi to call on the security team to intervene, repeating his request in a commanding tone:
“Security, move her out.”
The situation quickly escalated, and security personnel began to escort the woman out of the room.
Just before being removed, the woman tried to make her point heard by showing a certificate she claimed as evidence of her affiliation with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign organization. Holding it up for all to see, she said passionately:
“I am a patron of President Tinubu’s campaign organization that has over 10,000 people.”
Despite her efforts to assert her position, she was ultimately led out, with the moment drawing significant attention online and sparking a range of reactions from viewers.
This encounter has raised discussions about public officials’ handling of questions from citizens and the role of media in holding leaders accountable, making Umahi’s actions a subject of widespread debate.
